Can you recommend a pre shot routine will help my golf swing?

I am a mid handicap golfer (16 handicap). I am thinking that I need a different pre shot routine to help with my golf swing. My problem is that I am having difficulty making the transition between my woods and my irons. I have a tendency to hit down on my woods, like I do my irons and then tend to sky this golf shot. Do you have any golf tips on a pre shot routine?

There is a simple golf tip that someone shared with me for a pre shot routine that may work with your woods. It was given to me to help with my slice when I was struggling with my golf swing for a while, but I believe that it may help you with this issue as well.
Before you tee off or hit a fairway wood, instead of a normal practice golf swing, swing your golf club more like a baseball bat. In other words, swing it around your body at about waist level. Do this a few times until you feel your golf swing being on a flat plane rather than a steep downward path. While you are practicing this, think of the image of sweeping the golf ball off the grass with a broom.
Now one thing that I am a believer in is a consistent pre shot routine that you do the same way every time. So I would spend a little time developing one for my irons and one for my woods that you can easily do on a consistent basis. This will also help you focus and execute better.
One last word on this golf tip. Please for the sake of your playing partners, make your pre shot routine short and sweet. There is nothing more annoying than waiting on a golfer who takes 10 practice swings and spends 2 minutes getting ready for one golf swing. Consistent, simple, and short are the keys. Good luck!

  1. A good visualization process should accompany your physical preshot routine. Consider intergrating a simple sequnce prior to setting up to the ball. I belive the preshot routine should mirror each players “playing style”. There are 5 playinf styles and knowing them makes designing a preshot routine much easier, and more effective.

  2. I recommend a strength trainer called the MOJO that will also help loosen your shoulders for the perfect snap and release. They have all their information on http://www.swingthemojo.com
