How to make consistent contact with the golf ball in the center of the club face

Golf Nut, I always seem to hit the golf ball between the heel and the center of the club face . Most of my shots start out straight and then draw about 20-30 feet left. I would love to make more consistent contact in the center of the club face. Do you have any golf drills that can help me with that.

Well I do have one golf drill that I would suggest that you try. Before you do I should warn you that this was not given to me by anyone, it was just something that I came up with when I was fooling around with a golf club in the back yard one day. I’m serious, I was just working on my full golf swing a little and chipping a little and I was thinking about making solid contact with the golf ball. And this drill just came into my head and worked to help me get more consistent contact with the golf ball.
So I don’t know for sure if this will help you with your particular golf swing problem here, but from what you told me, it makes sense that it might help. Start with a golf club, probably a mid iron, and no golf ball. Get some ball markers and go to the range.
First, mark a line with three to four ball markers parallel with the line where you will hit some balls. Then put a second line of ball markers parallel with the first set, but about a golf ball and a half wide. Now address this little “path” between the two lines of ball markers as if there were a golf ball sitting between the two lines.
Pick a spot where you would be hitting a golf ball if there was one. Practice swinging your golf club in a practice swing trying to impact right where the back of the golf ball would be. The drill is designed to get you leaving a divot consistently in the same spot between the ball markers. This will get your swing path more consistent.
After practicing this for a while, when your divots are consistently in the same spot, put a golf ball down between the markers. Put some marking tape on your club face and start repeating the drill with the only difference being that you are actually hitting a golf ball now.
Check your tape and see where you are making contact on the club face. Keep working the drill until you see consistent marks from the golf ball more towards the center.
Consistency is what we all strive for in our golf swing. Our golf tips will help you get more consistent in all aspects of your game.

  1. Where can I buy some marking tape for practicing this dril.

    love some help

  2. Here’s a drill you can use for getting solid contact.
Imagine yourself the golfer ,as a machine if you will.(which you
are not by the way) if you constantly hit shots
off the toe of your club, your spine angle is most
likely raising up and back pulling the center of the club
back thus hitting the ball on the toe of the club.
A simple thing to do now is address the ball off the toe a bit.
your brain should tell you that you need to stay down
on the ball and then some to hit the center of the club face.
If you don’t you will wiff it!
The reverse is true if hitting twards the heel.
Your body and spine are moving down thus the heel
shots and shanks. Yikes! So address your club more twards the
heel. Your brain will tell your spine to stay up or even back
a little. If you don’t shank city! Guess what you can
use this on the course too! So simple! It is also helpful to
your game to have a consistent miss. Using these techniques
can be helpfull with that. If you hit the center of the ball
with the center of the club face it will go right down the center!

a bit. If not you will really shank it.
