A Golf Dynasty In The Works?

There is a little college down in South Georgia that may just be a golf dynasty in the making. Or, may in fact already be a dynasty. Darton College just missed winning it’s fourth national title in four years by only three strokes. But looking at their lineup they will probably make it four out of five next year. What a golf team!

Darton is a two year college that is a part of the University of Georgia System. It is located in Albany, Georgia and has a simply amazing golf team. They won the NJCAA DIvision II National title in 2005, 2006, and 2007. This year they almost made it a four beat before losing by only 3 strokes to Tyler Junior College out of Texas.
The team is coached by Dale Dover who has lead the Darton Cavaliers to not only three National Golf Titles but also seven Region titles in a row. And Dover seems to believe that they are not finished yet. “We have some good golfers coming into next season as well” he stated shortly after this year’s National Tournament was over.
He might be just being a little modest. He has four of seven golfers returning with one First Team All American, one Second Team All American, and one Honorable Mention. To win one National Championship is impressive, winning three in a row is almost unbelievable. And the amazing thing is that for two year schools they have to reload almost every year not every couple of years.
Look for this golf team to be in the hunt next year with a very real chance to win it all again. By the way, Coach Dover also recommends our golf program. Good luck in 2009 Coach!
