A marathon golfer

I just had to tell you about this guy that I read about recently. Apparently, he played 572 rounds of golf in 2005. Yes, five hundred and seventy two. And I am trying to find out if he hit his goal of 600 rounds in 2006. Can you believe this guy? Read on about this amazing golfer.

This golfer, John Furin, plays golf in Minnesota. Not Florida or California where you can play pretty much year round. He plays in the great white north where most courses close from around October until March or April. So that's only five or six months to get in five or six hundred rounds. Now you start to understand how amazing this crazy golfer really is.

Wait, there's more. John is 64 years old. I am considerably under 64 and if I play thirty-six holes of golf in one day, I am pretty wiped out. And this guy is averaging almost three rounds a day. I read where one day he played 108 holes!

So what's the deal? Is he retired? Yes, he is. Is he divorced? Surprise, he is in fact divorced. I really don't know if it because of golf, but he does have a girlfriend. I don't know when he sees her, but that's what the article said.

So all of this got me to thinking. If you won the lottery, or retired early, say at 50, how much golf could you really stand to play? Would you play seven days a week? Would you opt for more than eighteen holes of golf more than once a week? Would you hate the game after a year or two of a marathon like John's?

I would be interested for you golf nuts out there to give me your feedback on this. Comment here on this article and let me know how much golf you really think that you could stand to play week in and week out.

I'm nuts about this game, but I gotta think about this one.
