Can a golfer carry a weighted golf club?
Golf Nut, can a golfer carry a weighted golf club in addition to the 14 normal golf clubs? I am about to play in my member-member golf tournament and I don’t want to be disqualified.
Well I hope that you have been practicing for the golf tournament and good luck. My experience in these tournaments is that I can never overcome the sand baggers who always seem to shoot the lights out of it way beyond what their handicap is…..but wait, I’m sorry, I am digressing.
Yes, you can carry a weighted golf club. But according to Rule 4-4a/7, it must be part of the 14 golf clubs that you are allowed. It is not in addition to the 14 in your golf bag. So it may be decision time for you. How important is a weighted golf club to your round? Is it something that you use to loosen up and warm up, or do you go back to it during a round.
I use a weighted golf club during my golf round because I have a tendency to start swinging too fast as my round progresses. So it is important to my golf game and keeping my tempo at the right speed.
14 golf clubs and you pick ‘em. I really don’t think that this is a limitation for amateur golfers. If you need 14 different clubs, you are playing at the wrong level or may need to reevaluate your golf game. Good luck and good golfing!
