Christina Kim is a different type of golfer

Christina Kim, who dropped out of high school in 2001 to pursue a pro golfing career, made a big splash at last year’s Solheim Cup. The competition was exciting enough, but it wasn’t her golf swing, or anything in particular that she did with her golf clubs that caught golf fans and writers attention. Christina just had a way of being out there in all her antics.

There are those in the game of golf who don’t welcome this type of what some call “outrageous behavior”, especially on the LPGA. I, for one, welcome any breath of fresh air as long as that golfer respects the game.

I did not see any of the Solheim Cup competition, only read about it. And I haven’t seen Kim play either golf either. But what I read about her, I like. She walks to a different beat, but loves and respects the game of golf. And I think that is the most that the golfing public can ask for.

You might ask what about being a role model? Isn’t that a requirement for today’s professional golfers? I think that it probably is. But I haven’t seen any golfer with a true respect for the game be a bad role model, on purpose anyway. Sometimes they may make a mistake, which we all do from time to time.

I guess my point is, since I love golf so much, I hope that the golf world can maintain the great history and reverence for the game, but open up the minds a little to those that come at the game from a different perspective. I think that it will ultimately add to the game, not take away. That’s just me, The Golf Nut.

I totally agree. Christina spices up the game a bit and that's always good. ;)
