Golf fans: What kind of Masters finish do you want?

OK, the Masters golf tournament kicks off today. And the golf world is focused on the small Georgia town of Augusta and the azaleas and dogwoods. But what kind of finish do most golfers want on Sunday and what will they actually get to see on Sunday?

I guess a sort of dream come true for most golf fans would be for the winners of five of the past six Masters to end up slugging it out on Sunday. I am talking about Tiger and Phil of course. And the fact that it has been said that they are not crazy about each other feeds the frenzy. Oh yeah, and there’s the fact that between them they have won a total of 86 (that is not a typo by the way) professional golf tournaments also heats up the discussion.

So what will happen on that most beautiful of golf courses on Sunday? Well, I am sorry to disappoint all of you, but while I am picking Tiger to win, I don’t see a Tiger vs. Phil shootout in the final round. I do believe that Tiger will accept his fifth green jacket from Mickelson, but I really think that Phil will struggle this year at Augusta National.

I believe that the contender will be another golfer who has three top five finishes and two seconds at the Masters. I am talking about Ernie Els. I think that Els is going to make a run at the jacket. And if anyone prevents Tiger from claiming his victory, it might just be Ernie.

And that means that Ernie will need to be ahead by at least one putt by the end of the day on Saturday. Because Tiger has won every PGA tour event that he has led after three rounds. So if it is going to be Tiger, you can check the scores late Saturday and turn off the TV on Sunday if he is ahead. Because the golf tournament will be over at that point.
