Tom Lehman seeking to make Ryder Cup Team
PGA golfer Tom Lehman wants to make the transition from coach to contributor. He coached the 2006 US Ryder Cup team and now wants to earn a playing spot on the next squad. Lehman hasn't won a golf tournament on the PGA Tour since 2000, but I wouldn't bet against him on this one.
Lehman just turned 48 and has struggled with his golf game the last few years. He spent two entire years focusing on the Ryder Cup team that he captained to a disappointing loss in 2006. He stated recently that his focus now is to wrap up his playing career by earning a spot on the 2008 team.
Tom placed fifth last week to Vijay Singh at the Arnold Palmer invitational so don't count him out yet. He has 5 career wins, a British Open victory, and over $19 million in tour winnings. So this golfer knows how to get it done. For most of these pros, it is a matter of focus. And Tom appears to be focusing on one more goal to achieve before he rides off into the sunset of the Seniors events.
If I were a betting man, I would feel comfortable that Lehman can shake the rust off of his golf swing and earn that spot. And looking at how he finished fifth, he obviously can still hit a golf ball pretty well. Don't count him out yet golf fans.
Why is a seemingly decent guy like Lehman be involved with a marketing scam like the Partner's Club? I joined and it's just one bait & switch after another!
