What happened to Vijay Singh?

Vijay Singh, the only golfer to displace Tiger Woods as the Worlds’ number one golfer for a while, has gone winless in 17 starts. What’s going on with Vijay?

According to Vijay he is close to his golf game being back in the right shape to win, it’s only a few little things coming together. And that is the nature of the game of golf that we all love and, sometimes, hate at the same time.

Vijay has also, tended to be a streaky golfer as well. He went 50 golf tournament starts without a win after winning the 2000 Masters. He then set a tournament scoring record in the next tournament he played in.

So this might mean that Vijay may be ready to get on another hot streak just in time for the last three majors of 2006. I would like to see it because I believe that he one of the few current pro golfers who can push Tiger in more than one golf tournament.

I like Tiger and tremendously respect his golf game, but I like to see someone push the edge to make Tiger, and all the other PGA touring pros work hard harder at this game.

So I think that you will see Vijay, Tiger, and Phil Mickelson battle it out for the remaining two majors here in the US and possibly at the British Open as well.

Comments

Vijay didn't come alive in 2006 on the tour like he was supposed to.

What will happen with him the rest of this golf season? He has come on strong and is 3rd in the FedEx standings. He has two tournament wins and 4 top ten finishes.

I think that it took him longer than expected to get his golf swing going, but that he will win at least one major out of the remaining three.
